How to Develop the Language Skills of Your Preschool Children
1. Between ages 2 and 5, children acquire a tremendous amount of information on language. At age 5, the differences between children with different degrees of language skills can be striking. One child may have a vocabulary of 4,000-5,000 words; another child only has one to two thousand. [+/-]
As children make the transition from preschool to kindergarten, one of the best predictors of school success is how many words they know and use.
That is why I made several worksheets to improve the vocabulary of your children.
2. Make reading aloud a part of your everyday routine. Even if you just read for five minutes or less each morning and the same amount each evening, you'll be exposing your child to a great wealth of new words. Don't be surprised if you start hearing some of these words slip into your child's everyday speech. I love to read nursery rhymes for my daughter. I have my favorites here for you to print and read to your prescholer.
3. Encourage creativity. Preschool children get excited about making things. I have several dot to dot, colouring and other worksheets that your prescholer is going to love.

The alphabetic principle teaches that spoken language is represented by written words that are made up of varying combinations of letters, and that these letters and combinations of them make up all of the sounds in spoken language.
